Bumping Lake

August 12-17, 2013« More activities from 2013

We canoed and hiked a little over 50 miles total in and around Bumping Lake. The trip included a 20 mile (1900 feet elevation gain) hike for the Hiking Merit Badge. In addition to spending lots of time in and around Bumping Lake, we visited Lower Cedar Lake, Swamp Lake, Little Cougar Lake, & Cougar Lake. Lots of swimming, swamping, and gunnel jumping. All physical Canoeing Merit Badge skills practiced thoroughly and signed off by Mike and Ben. Fishing at Lower Cedar Lake was great. One Scout and a couple adults caught several nice Cutthroat Trout. Very tasty fried up in butter! The weather was not particularly hot, but is was good and not raining. Stargazing every night was great with planet, satellite, and shooting star sightings. We cleaned up and hiked out small amounts of garbage on one of our hikes, and scoured the beach and parking lot on Saturday afternoon before we left. About 1 hour total. Really fun trip! – MHG
