Cook-off

May 22, 2010« More activities from 2010

We had excellent sunny weather and a great turn-out for our cook-off. Most folks arrived at Lincoln Park between 8:30 and 9am to setup and get started. The new equipment made it much easier for the Patrols to function. They all got dining flies up and meals underway without too much fuss. Only one Scout brought matches, and none brought newspaper to start up the coals, but on the bright side, most Scouts brought ropes for their dining flies. The meals were all pretty great. Spartans/Z- made lasagna and turtle cake, Lost Boys made BBQ chicken and brownies, Allatuna made their traditional shepherd’s pie and apple pie, and A-Team made Mount Diablo Mexican Casserole and cherry cobbler. Judges got there around noon. Many adults helped to make 6 dutch ovens worth of food to help feed the masses including pineapple upside-down cake, sweet potato pudding, beer bread, a giant cheeseburger pie, and 2 ovens filled with apple dumplings. Lost Boys took 4th place, Allatuna took 3rd, A-Team took 2nd, and Spartans/Z- took 1st. We packed up and left by 2pm. – MHG
