Sheep Lake

September 12-13, 2009« More activities from 2009

The Sheep Lake hike in September was great. The hike begins uphill and then flattens out for the rest of about two miles. We had the best weather conditions there could have been. It was sunny and warm the whole time. There were several other groups of campers including three other Boy Scout Troops and lots of day hikers in the area.

On the first day we arrived and set up camp. Then we set to making the best cheesecake ever. After it was stirred, we set off on a day hike to the top of a ridge above Sourdough Gap. We had an amazing view of all the surrounding peaks including Mt. Rainier, Mt. Adams, and Mt. St. Helens. It was also scary because on the other side of the ridge, there was a long drop to the bottom. On the way back down we found some nice blueberries along the trail. Later that day, we caught some pollywogs near the lake and then explored one side of the lake basin. – AJK
