Tieton River Rafting

September 7-8, 2013« More activities from 2013

We stopped in Ellensburg to eat our sack lunches and again near Naches to get some fresh fruit. We camped at Indian Creek Campground on Rimrock Lake this year. Lots of fun areas to explore. Lots of baby toads were found by the lake. Adults ate delicious dutch oven stew and fresh peach cobbler while the Scouts ate something unmemorable.

We got up early on Sunday to eat breakfast and tear down camp so we could meet our guides from North Cascades River Expeditions at the Tieton River take-out shortly after 9am. They drove us to the put-in and we started our 15 mile trip down the river. The water released from Tieton Dam was a little less exciting this year, but still quite fun. Lunch was great as usual with nice sandwiches, apples, brownies, and Jerry’s famous hot mochas by the side of the river. We helped rinse and organize the rafting gear, and headed home. We also stopped at a few fruit stands on the way for more fresh fruit and ice cream. – MHG
