Youth Outdoor Adventure Day
March 5, 2016« More activities from 2016
Youth Outdoor Adventure Day at Camp Long was a huge success with over 500 youth and 200 adults including over 100 adult volunteers who made sure all 27 activities ran smoothly all day. We were incredibly blessed with sun and temperatures in the 60’s too.
Speaking of being blessed, how great was it to be at Camp Long with 2 cook shelters, 68 acres of forrest, 1.5 miles of hiking trails, a creek and pond, Schurman Rock, a glacier rescue slab, 10 cabins for camping, an environmental learning center, and low and high challenge courses throughout? Add to that the West Seattle Stadium for archery and Roger Dahl Shooting Range for rifles just down the street, and you can see how special this event was.
Big thanks to Camp Long, Seattle Parks and Recreation staff, West Seattle Sportsmen’s Club, Girl Scouts of Western Washington, and the Chief Seattle Council Boy Scouts of America for working hard together to make this event happen. Together they achieved their goal of providing a free day of outdoor adventures to all youth, and introducing them to some activities that Scouting offers. – MHG
