Scout Troops 282 and 8282 successfully completed their annual Guye Cabin First Aid Retreat, where the scouts immersed themselves in hands-on learning about first aid while navigating the trails. This unique experience involved adult volunteers acting as accident victims, allowing the scouts to put their knowledge into practice in realistic scenarios. As they encountered various “emergencies,” the scouts worked together to assess each situation, develop treatment plans, and strategize evacuation procedures. The combination of teamwork and critical thinking fostered a deeper understanding of first aid principles, while the supportive environment encouraged confidence and quick decision-making. This retreat not only equipped the scouts with valuable skills but also strengthened their bond as they prepared for real-life situations in the great outdoors.
