2024 Klondike 01/26-27/24

Troop 282 and 8282’s snow camping trip to the Klondike Derby turned into a wet and wild adventure when rain poured down relentlessly throughout the weekend. Despite the soggy conditions, spirits remained high as we embraced the unexpected challenge of setting up tents in the dark and pulling a sled with the eleven essentials up a long, hilly route the next day. Adding a playful twist to the dampness, the theme for the weekend was “Cereal,” sparking creativity and laughter among scouts and leaders alike. As we huddled under tarps and rain jackets, we found solace in shared jokes and stories, turning a rainy setback into a memorable experience. Amidst the downpour, there was a shining moment of triumph when Pack 282 was awarded the Cub Scout Chili Award for their delicious creation. Despite the constant drizzle, we pressed on, participating in activities and challenges with determination and enthusiasm. And though our tents may have been damp and our clothes soaked through, the fun of shared adventure kept us going until the closing ceremony, signaling the end of a rainy but unforgettable Klondike Derby.
