Hello trip 282 friends and family,
I just dropped our entire troop off at the climbing wall and they are suiting up to go at it despite the heat. After climbing we’re looking forward to an obstacle course, and by the cheers we heard at the obstacle course yesterday I think we’re all really looking forward to it! Afterwards, we are going to reward ourselves by getting every troop 282 camper and adult “something cold “from the trading post.
Got several text from concerned parents with regards to the nearby Brinnon fire. I’m happy to report that the camp staff is keeping a very close eye on it, it’s already been reduced in size last I checked, and we are having no air quality impacts here at camp.
Yesterday, all our scouts had a great time working on merit badges, advancement, and troop activities, including Tomahawk, throwing, rowing, baton making, and swimming.
My favorite part of yesterday was at the very end of the day where all our older scouts sat down with our younger Scouts and busted through some serious rank advancements. It was phenomenal, watching each member of our younger patrols buddy up with a senior scout and crank out all the signatures that they had already earned, but maybe hadn’t quite yet asked for sign off. Nikhil took over knots, and Wyatt and Ezra were an especially industrious pair.
This morning, Scouts were busy working on merit badges and advancements, and then we enjoyed cooking lunch on our own in our campsite, which was really nice and relaxing!
I can’t wait to report back tomorrow with a review of our evening tonight, we are celebrating a birthday, having our friendship fire with a chocolate fountain, and we’re looking forward to patrol skits and songs with our neighboring troops!
Best wishes,
Margaret Mead Gill
